Bob (Konabob) Stoffer has lived on the Big Island since 1995. A longtime lover of Hawaiian music, he began playing the steel guitar in 1998.
He has built seven acoustic and electric steel guitars and is known for his design and creation of the "Kona Walkingbass," a 3-string upright fretless bass made using Mangowood or Koa.
Bob plays in a G6 tuning (G-D-E-g-b-d), using solid strings on the 3 high strings.
He has played in many Hawaiian music trios during his years here, performing at various venues on the west side of the island and hula festivals in Kona, Zurich and Okinawa.
He is currently a member of Ramon Camarillo's trio, Holualoa, with Brian McCree on bass.
