Jim Dowiat

James (Jim) Dowiat was born and raised in Chicago. He then moved to New York City where he worked as a mechanical engineer and owner of an engineering company during the next 40 years.

His wife, Emi, was originally from Maui so they moved to Honolulu to be close to the family and grandchildren.

Jim became interested in Hawaiian steel guitar two years ago and now takes lessons from Kumu Alan Akaka.
